Emo Punk Memories started as a way to keep the music and memories that shaped us alive. You know how a certain song can take you back to those packed shows, late-night drives, and lyrics that felt like they were speaking directly to you? That’s the feeling I wanted to capture.
For me, this music was more than just something to listen to—it was the soundtrack to first loves, heartbreaks, and those moments when you felt like nobody else could understand. It’s the little things, like burning CDs, waiting for hours on LimeWire for that one song, and stumbling across a new band on MySpace that felt like a hidden gem. Those moments helped shape who I am, and I wanted to share that feeling with others.
It all really kicked off after I saw a TikTok where a girl said Machine Gun Kelly “created” pop-punk. It made me smile, but it also got me thinking about how easy it is for these stories to get lost. So, I started posting clips, sharing my own memories, and highlighting the bands that built the scene we loved.
But what has meant the most to me is sharing this music with my kids. I’ll never forget taking my daughters to their first show—Juliana Theory, Dashboard Confessional, and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness. We got them their first band shirts—way too big, but they didn’t care. Seeing them light up when the music started, singing along to songs that had meant so much to me, felt like reliving those moments all over again.
As they sang along and I saw their faces light up when Andrew took the stage, it hit me how special this all was. It wasn’t just about passing down music; it was about sharing a part of myself, my past, and seeing them make it their own. Younger me never would’ve imagined being there, with my kids, watching them experience the same thrill I felt all those years ago. It’s a memory I’ll hold close forever.
Emo Punk Memories isn’t just about looking back. It’s about keeping the spirit of this music alive for anyone who still finds comfort in those lyrics and for the next generation discovering it for the first time. It’s about celebrating the bands that got us through the hard days and reminding each other that this music still matters.
Because as long as someone finds a connection in these songs, there’s always a place for this scene. This is for anyone who’s ever turned up the volume and felt like they weren’t alone, and for those just finding their way into the music that means so much to us.
